[Registration Now Open] Create@Alibaba Cloud Startup Contest—Paris

After the first stage of CACSC in London, Alibaba Cloud will work with   Paris & Co,   ACECE (Association des Chinois à l’Etranger pour la Création d’Entreprise) and   CKGSB (Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business) to host the contest in Paris. The contest offers very attractive rewards and future cloud infrastructure support programs including up to $216,000 in cloud resource credits.

Awards

There are three awards for Paris session participants:

1. Competition finalists

- Eligibility for Alibaba Cloud’s international startup program Create@Alibaba Cloud where participants will win USD $10,000 credit in cloud resources and free 1 on 1 Cloud infrastructure solution planning with Alibaba Cloud Architects.
- Strong mentor support from Paris&Co and ACECE.
- ICP application support, making it easy and smooth to set up your website and applications in China.
- Opportunities to connect with investors/incubators/co-working spaces in China.
- Co-marketing opportunities with Alibaba and ACECE.

2. The winner of Paris session

In addition to the resources mentioned above, the winner of the competition will also receive the following:
- USD $50,000 credit to be used on Alibaba Cloud products and services.
- Free trip to the Alibaba Cloud Yunqi Conference for the world final, and with the opportunity to meet the top investment firms in China and gain coverage from global media. Round-trip air tickets sponsored by Hainan Airlines and hotel and conference ticket sposored by Alibaba Cloud.
- Free admission to CKGSB’s China Start 5 Day Program in China.

3. The champion of CACSC world final

In addition to the benefits mentioned above, the winner of the global final will receive the following rewards:
A place in the Alibaba Cloud’s 18 Founders program, to receive the USD $216,000 credit to be used on Alibaba Cloud products and services, and a tailor-made marketing support plan which will give the winner access to global media exposure and opportunities to meet with investors.

Competition Entry Requirements, Rules & Notes

Besides, the Paris session ONLY invite companies registered in France (or other country in Europe), companies from other countries and regions pls apply other sessions of CACSC.

2. Competition rules for Paris

-   Sign-up:Startups can sign-up through Alibaba Cloud website and our partners’ channels, or recommended by others, the application requires basic company information and the detailed business profile (details see the Application Form and pls send the Form to CACSC@list.alibaba-inc.com).
-   Pre-screen: The CACSC Paris contest committee will carefully read the materials of each applicant, and may call or email the applicants to check necessary information or learn more; and 8 startups will be selected for the Paris final and to be notified the detailed arrangements and how to prepare.
-   Paris final: We will hold the demo day in public area, each startup in the finalist choose one representative to introduce their project, and the judges will select one champion for the world final in China.

Meet the Judges

  • Sébastien Badault, Managing Director of Alibaba Group France

    Sébastien Badault was appointed Managing Director of Alibaba Group France in 2015. In this role, he will leverage his substantial experience running French operations for international online and e-commerce brands to connect the needs of French consumers and merchants with the capabilities of the Alibaba ecosystem. Prior to joining Alibaba, he spent more than ten years at Google, where he was most recently Global Account Director, responsible for the development of strategic customers in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He was also previously European Business Development Manager for Amazon. Mr. Badault received a bachelor’s degree in Science & Marketing from Boston College and master’s degree in Marketing form ESC Toulouse.

  • Beatrice Gautier, Business Development Director, IT sector, Paris&Co

    Béatrice, as a Business Development Director at Paris&Co, attracts and implements international businesses setting-up projects in Paris, more specifically in the IT sector. She accompanied them step by step for the setting up: to provide information, to help to find office space, to introduce them to the ecosystem and schools of engineers, to open doors for them. Previously, Béatrice has worked for 12 years for a VC fund (a French early stage venture capital firm, focusing on IT). Béatrice developed her expertise in detecting innovative startups, evaluating BP, connecting people and developing partnerships.

  • Jacky Abitbol, Partner at Cathay Innovation

    Jacky joined Cathay Innovation in January 2016 to head its activity in Europe. Jacky benefits from over 17 years of advisory and operational experience in Telecommunications, Medias and Technology, with a particular expertise in venture capital and corporate development. Prior to joining Cathay Capital, Jacky was a Venture Partner with Iris Capital in Israel from 2012 to 2015 and also headed the Corporate Development activity for Orange startups program. Jacky holds a MBA from Boston University and a degree in Business Administration from Madrid Business School.

  • Jean-Francois Cochy, Associate at Cathay Innovation

    After joining Cathay Capital in 2014, Jean-Francois was involved in several tech and digital investment opportunities and eventually joined Cathay Innovation team in 2015. Prior to joining Cathay, Jean-Francois spent three years in investment banking, most of it in the M&A department of French banking group Credit Agricole CIB. During his tenure in the New York and Paris offices, he was involved in several operations for blue chips and middle-market French and international clients, with a focus on cross-border transactions. Jean-Fran?ois holds a MSc in Management from EMLYON Business School and completed an exchange program in Ta?wan at the National Sun Yat-Sen University.

  • Yuan LIU, Co-founder of Serrinnov Investment, General Secretary of ACECE

    LIU Yuan is the founder and CEO of Ultact (Nanjing, Paris), Serrinnov Investment (Pairs, Shanghai), and ACECE Fund (Suzhou). He’s also the business angel of start-ups such as Ting Maison, etc, the CPPCC member of Kunshan city, and visiting fellow of ENSAM, and the Leading Talent of Jiangsu Province in 2015 (top 60). His company Ultact received the "particularly outstanding project" prize of Nanjing in 2015, (top 2) and got the fund investment.

  • Xiaowei Rose LUO, Associate Professor at Department of Entreprenurship and Family Business Enterprise at INSEAD

    Professor Luo Xiaowei Rose is associate professor and Ph.D advisor at Department of Entrepreneurship and Family Business Enterprise at INSEAD. She received her Ph.D from Stanford University and was a professor at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign for 10 years prior to joining INSEAD. Professor Luo is also a visiting professor teaching to many promising entrepreneurs at Lakeside University founded by Jack Ma, Alibaba Chairman. She serves at Jury panel of Cartier Global Women Entrepreneur Award. She is also a senior advisor of World Economic Forum. She also serve at editorial board of 5 top academic journals.
